Greyhound bus

do not take this bus if you value your life. I witnessed violence harassment by border patrol harassment of customers a fight hideous rudness an insane mama grendel of adriver I ended up hysterical forced to wait all night in Dallas because they gave me the wrong schedule.Say children sleeping onn the floor because their bus was late for no good reason These people are bastards!!!! This happened over the periods of 2007-2009 on two different trips I took to New Oeleans as a Katrina survivor trying to get my property straightened out in New Orleans. Also the buses stank of chemical tiolets They were filthy as was the station at Baton Rouge. Stations are always in dangerous neighborhoods.

Grey hound bus, inhumane

bought a ticke from greyhound from Flint Mi to Batesville Ms, with one layover in Chicago and one in Memphis. Left Flint arrived in Chicago approximately 4 hr. layover and waited for bus to Memphis which arrive on time at 6 pm. Got in line for bus to Memphis almost made it on and told they were full and would have to wait for next bus which was for 6 am next morning, 12 hrs later. Total trip time would have been around 32 hrs. No accomodations. Tried to get answers and some help only got security. Finally after certain amount of my being a pain in the butt, got a ticket back to Flint, bought a plane ticket and flew. The ride back to Flint was like a jail on wheels. Greyhound totally uncaring. Not just me either, a soldier late to get back to base a woman missing her daughters wedding etc. to *** with greyhound

Do you really believe all these excuses that Greyhound comes up with when a problem arises? These are just stories because they are juggling drivers and not enough busses. Just sell tickets and do what you can do to get the passengers on the road.

It is the same same story all over America in all business.

The guys at the top are making obscene amounts of money while using us regular folks to do their dirty work. WAKE UP AMERICA!

The worst service in the world - Greyhound

I bought a ticket from Pittsburgh PA to Wilmington DE. On the ticket, depart at 5:00 am and arrive at 11:50 am. Actually, departed at 7:20 am and arrived at 5:10 pm. Greyhound never follows its schedule? For the minimum words of 100: I bought a ticket from Pittsburgh PA to Wilmington DE. On the ticket, depart at 5:00 am and arrive at 11:50 am. Actually, departed at 7:20 am and arrived at 5:10 pm. Greyhound never follows its schedule? It is the worst service in the world. Never take it and leave it alone.

Racists not giving refunds

I witnessed 2 different people who missed their connecting bus bc of their bus being late and the (black) customer service reps/security would not do anything to help them. it was sickening to watch! When anyone would go to the counter to ask questions they just acted so *** and didnt offer any assistance AT ALL...and it was interesting to see the security guards acting as csr's at times. my whole experience there was sickening. they keep the buses packed, and these men are bragging about how easy it is to transport drugs through there. never again. id rather *** WALK

Racist *** running greyhound

traveled from LA to vegas and was COMPLETELY DISGUTED with the customer service and bus drivers and then the *** i sat next to that kept moaning then put his hand on my lap. he was completely insane, i would doze off and he started talking loud on his cell phone, but you could tell he was just actually talking to hiimself. when this woman got out of her seat i moved into her chair and he started making comments like "im seating here, noone can sit with me". completely insane.and he was bragging about how much money from dealing and how they never checked his bags on the bbus.he had and the way he was holding onto that bag he was carrying im sure he had drugs in it. the bus driver was on some moronic bus driver power trip yelling at the passengers about how you couldnt talk on your phone (and whenever the blacks were yelling on their phones he never said anything), he yelled at me twice for standing up before he parked. whatever he needed to do to feel like a man. the people that work there (all black) were rude and angry the entire time.it was a disgusting experience altogether. im never putting myself through that *** again.

Greyhound

Last night on 3/07/2011, I ordered a online ticket to travel to Oakland,ca from Sacramento. My bus was to leave at 8:15pm so I arrived at the bus station at 7:30pm. The ticket counter was dark and no one was working. A security gaurd told me that the rep had just went to lunch and would be gone for 30min. About 2min later I seen a lady behind the counter walking around and then sat down. I walked over to ask her about how to get a ticket when there is no one working and she responded with " I'm on my lunch" I asked if there is anyone that I could talk to and then she said "What part of I'm on my lunch that you don't understand" so I was so upset that I threw my food in the garbage can and walked out the door. When I came back 5min later, another person that was behind the counter said that I can go around to the shipping side and they will print out a ticket for me. They have horribel customer service in my opinion !!!

Update by user Mar 07, 2011

I bought a ticket online, of course, knowing that they are non-refundable. My trip was canceled due to a snow storm. At the station, they told me that I could leave and use the tickets later without a problem. Now they are telling me that online tickets have to be used only the day they were printed.

When I tell them that it was cancelled because of a snow storm, they tell me that online tickets have to be used on the next available bus.

When I tell them that that is not what I was told at the station, they tell me that I had to call them immediately after that happened. I paid more than $300 for these tickets, and I completely lost this money. I was a good customer for them, having used their buses for more than 2 years every single day to go to work. I was planning on taking a longer trip on their buses, but I will never in my life purchase a ticket from them.

Everybody be aware that their customer service and policies are terrible, ridiculous, and unreliable.

Poor Customer Service

On February 26th I purchased a ticket for Mt. Laurel, NJ from NYC Port Authority. The ticket agent directed me to gate 83. Gate 83 had a sign posted for Boston and Connecticut, not Mt. Laurel. The other option given by the ticket agent was gate 82. No signs at gate 82 indicating any destinations! When I was finally able to speak to a greyhound rep, he advised me I missed the bus at gate 83 and that it had boarded on time! I had waited on that line and no announcement had been made concerning a boarding for NJ! He then directed me to gate 68. At gate 68 I was informed by the agent that the next bus to Mt. Laurel would be at 11:30, which came and went. No bus to Mt. Laurel. Finally at 12:30 I was able to board the bus for Mt. Laurel at the next gate over having been informed that I had been standing at the wrong gate for 30 minutes, following the directions of another incompetent Greyhound employee!

Greyhound Refund Policy is Antiquated and ***

Update by user Dec 09, 2011

I did end up getting a refund from the corporate office after the posted this same review to the Better Business Bureau. So complaining does help I guess. But I still will never ride these unreliable bus routes again.

Original review posted by user Feb 15, 2011
I ordered my bus tickets from Fort Leonard Wood, MO to St Louis Airport and on the day of, the bus was cancelled. I was not given any notice of this. There was no signage on the door stating this fact, so myself and 2 other passengers sat in front of the terminal waiting. Instead when I did find a number to contact greyhound, there was a voicemail notifying me that the bus was canceled due to the weather. It wasn't even snowing at the time! Well, I had to end up driving myself to the airport and when I called for a refund, they told me to just come into the office. I was not notified that I was supposed to guard my paper ticket like my life depended on it after this point (after my bus was canceled). Apparently, greyhound does not refund money without the original paper ticket and you cannot go back to print your ticket after you have already printed it once. What an archaic system! Customer service provided me some line of *** about how the paper ticket can be used again and its the customer's responsibility to take care of it. Hello, we live in 2011. I lose papers all the time, that's why I have everything electronically! It's not like I paid cash for this ticket at a teller agent's desk. I bought my ticket online with a credit card and I have a confirmation number. They have all the proper information any normal company requires for a refund. No service should equal a refund for the customer. Not some line of *** about not having my original receipt, therefore no refund. No where in the terms of agreement or email with my e-ticket did it say I could only print the ticket once. I WILL NEVER USE THE SERVICES OF GREYHOUND EVER AGAIN!

On August 17 I walked in to greyhound bus service and purchased a round trip ticket to Baltimore the ticket was purchased 19 minutes before the bus was supposed to depart, the bus was supposed to leave at 3 oclock in the afternoon and 3 oclock came and went and we were still standing their we as in customers their was about 25 customers standing in line at this moment our bus driver pulled up at about 3 oclock so were thinling were ready to board, actually this was not the case we ended up waiting for an hour the bus driver did not bother to announce why we had to wait so one of the customers asked the bus driver why we were waiting the bus driver told us that he was running late but he was still entitled to his break. Once reaching Baltimore I attempted to board the 6 oclock back to DC only to be told the bus was full and my 10 year old son and I had to wait for the next bus.

Please stick with the subject of Greyhound, pauljsales. Not fair or reasonable to claim "all business" "guys at the top" are unethical or bad. Certainly some are, but there is no way for you to claim that all are, authoritatively.

That's like saying you can board an airplane nowadays when the ticket was issued for a flight from last week. Is that considered a "live" ticket just because I still have an intact plane ticket? I think NOT!

Anonymous
#260207

So what your saying is that everyone else is responsible for everything that you purchase? You are right that we live in 2011, but it is YOUR responsibility to keep track of YOUR things.

This is a concept that was ingrained since you were in elementary school.

Without the original ticket it is considered a "live" ticket which means it is still useable. This is the reason for needing the original ticket.

Anonymous

@PissedConsumer260207

It's not antiquated so much because it requires the original receipt, but because they don't refund immediately when they do not provide the service they promise (my college age son was kicked off in Butte Montana and told they weren't able to finish the route, so he had to catch a bus home to Billings - and could not come to a family reunion that cost our family a couple of thousand dollors to fly to Idaho for.)

Also it takes 8 weeks to get a refund. You have to mail it in, when you should be able to go in and get a refund at a Greyhound depot.

Their website is practically useless, as well as their customer service number. Slow, winding and never directly giving you an option to talk to a representative.

They company needs an overhaul and completely new CEO's. They are failing miserably in a day and age of technology and customer awareness.

Greyhound Customer Service Worse Ever!

The website allowed me to book my dad's ticket leaving PA to NM with him leaving from a location where there wasn't a station! Long story short --He had to get a ride to Pittsburgh (an hr away) after multiple phone calls and canceling the original ticket which was invalid and applying for a refund which will take 7-10 days and I had to purchase a NEW ticket! OH! and I was suppose to be happy that they were even issusing a refund since it was a non-refundable ticket. I said non-refundable from a non-existant station?!

Greyhound: a 0/5 score (or lower) for everything

I was traveling to a little town called Fayetteville, NC, for a job interview scheduled at the last minute. Since Megabus, my savior, only went up to Durham/Charlotte (in NC), I decided to transfer to the dreaded Greyhound at a cartain destination. 1. I booked my Megabus ticket to Charlotte and purchased a greyhound ticket from Charlotte to Fayetteville. Only, Greyhound booked it erroneously from Raleigh (!) to Fayettville. This was on a Friday so the guy at the NC station whom I called, asking for information, chided me for booking online and said I would have to talk to the customer reps on Monday (the day of my trip). 2. Since Megabus is more accommodating, I decided to change my Megabus reservation to Raleigh so that there would be no problems. That went off smoothly, except that Megabus goes up to Durham. So I had to look at dreaded Greyhound from Durham to Raleigh (a 35-min bus ride). 3. At Durham, waiting for the Greyhound, in the company of the usual "characters," the desk conveniently forgot to tell us, the passengers, that the bus was canceled. We found out when a guy started yelling and expressing his frustration. 4. Approaching the front desk, the guy got into a fight with me for choosing the online option to book tickets! This despite me explaining that I was not angry with him for Greyhound canceling the bus...I just wanted information -- on refund, my options to get to raleigh, and such. The guy did not know what "reimburse" or "refund" meant. I had to spell and then write it out and then refer to it as "get the money back on my card." 5. I took regional transit (wayyyy better) and reached the place ok. And the next day, it was traumatic again with Greyhound. 6. This is the most rotten service I've ever come across. The rides have never been pleasant and the company on the bus/at the station is God awful. Please do not rely on the Greyhound for anything. I HIGHLY recommend Megabus in the US. It's so much better. Everything-wise.

"Anonymous - Things Happen", you're an obvious corporate shill! Long story short, On 06-SEP-10 @ 6P, I spent $66 on a one-way bus fare from Sacramento to Los Angeles, then ducked into their restroom to use their toilet stall for ONE minute.

Their 25-yr-old, room-temperture-IQ, skinhead, fat-boy security guard told me to get the *** out of there RIGHT NOW. I calmly presented my bus fare ticket to prove that I was indeed a PAYING passenger and not some street *** who wandered in off the street. Did that end the matter right there and then? NO!

He confiscated my ticket and said "follow me" to the windowless room (for a VERY thorough search, also photocopied my driver license and bus ticket to add to their "lowlife file"). I've ridden G'hound approx 200 times since 1980. I'm a clean-cut, clean-shaven 60-yr-old caucasion male who happened to be wearing a "Hawaiian/Aloha Shirt" on that particular day. Apparently, I violated G'hound's unwritten dress code against this colorful, festive style of casual wear.

I returned from my LA trip a few days later and emailed Greyhound Corporate website "contact us" and detailed my uncalled-for encounter with their *** *** fat-boy skinhead security employee. NO REPLY. No courtesy kiss-my-*** or go-to-***-***! YOU!!

(Things Happen-Anonymous),sir/madam shill are obviously sucking some Greyhound corporate *** in the corner office, aren't you?

I'm riding AMTRAK from now on. Nuff said!!!!

Lucky you, not everyone can afford to rent a car. I don't know what the drivers make now but I do know Greyhound has been trying to bust the union and has forced wage cuts on the drivers.

I too had a surly driver and also a friendly one.

BFD.

It's just a bus ride. The passengers were nice though.
