Greyhound: the driver didn't let my husband to pick up my son and drove my son to the wrong station

My son fell asleep on the greyhound bus (it was 2 am). The driver didn't wake him up on his stop. My husband who knew the boy was on the bus tried to enter the bus to wake him up. The driver yelled at him and said the boy was not there. my husband believed that the boy wasn't on the bus and reported to the police. they had been searching for my son for 2 hours. the driver dropped my son off at the next stop but he didn't unload his luggage. The luggage was sent somewhere else. greyhound refuses to file a baggage because the baggage check numbers were not issued (their fault, they just didn't do it for some reason)

I want to share this experience with everyone who is ever planning to use Greyhound bus. This is so outrageous that I am afraid people would not believe me. But I promise - this is the truth without exaggerations. Here is what happened: I was waiting to board a bus...

Can anyone out there tell us what the *** is wrong with the Richmond greyhound bus station why they never answer their phone. My son was traveling (mental health person) out of New York with a layover in Richmond when he drank some water there and threw up he was kicked out of the terminal and told by greyhound security he could not board their bus nor be on their property and left stranded in richmond with no phone, money and no where to go and ended up in jail.

What in the *** is wrong with the *** in Virginia. I tried to call and see what happened Richmond police never picked up the phone and neither did greyhound at Richmond.

If they keep this kind of attitude up down there they are going to get more than they bargain for. One day some mental health person is going to come down their as a suicide bomber, and that will be the end of that place.

The other thing is I agree greyhound needs to go out of business right away their people employees are rude and their drivers are very unprofessional.

Not all, but their is enough complaints on these websites about greyhound that I bet they have not addressed one single complaint here. i say boycott their business and some of these idiots will go out of business for good.

A gift fee ontop of rampant unprofessionalism...

I have traveled by greyhound many times and rarely have I had anything positive to say about it. On numerous times the buses have been late, causing me to arrive at home sometimes hours after the designated time. Once in particular stands out; I waited for three hours at a bus depot. After two hours an employee told me the bus had not even left its original destination yet, and when I inquired further he told me there was no reason for the delay. As well I find that many of the employees are extremely rude and unprofessional. An Asian woman who did not speak English attempted to ask the bus driver a question while the driver was doing a head count. The driver told her to sit down, adding loudly that she "didn't understand why people like you are allowed onto the bus in the first place." As well I have witnessed front desk employees (not drivers thankfully...) getting stoned outside the building on numerous occasions. May I ask where the boss is?! My most recent beef with greyhound is the "gift fee" they impose on customers who purchase tickets for their friends. I do not own a car as I am a student on an extremely tight budget. I do NOT appreciate being charged an extra $18, a fee which is not imposed if the buyer pays in cash, leading me to conclude that Greyhound imposes a surcharge on credit cards, which is quite illegal. I sincerely hate the Greyhound company. I really don't think I could stress this enough if I screamed it from the top of a mountain. If there were another bus service running in BC, I would take it any day. They are unprofessional and have held a monopoly in the cross-country bus service for far too long.

Greyhound; a sick and dying dog.

I would never consider traveling with Greyhound again, ever. The service shattered even my low expectations. The driver was rude, unprofessional, and even personally attacked me, calling me a "*** college student." The lack of security makes the buses feel very, very unsafe and it does not help that most of the stops take place in "I wouldn't walk around there alone at night" locations. Buses feel dirty, and dusty. Overall, Greyhound is dying not only due to the age of cheap airfare, but also due to the seriously falling standards of the line itself, which will ultimately make the company its own victim.

A $250 "inconvenience"

I purchased two one way, 21 day advance purchase e-tickets on Greyhound Buslines from Minneapolis to Nashville, TN back on December 30, 2009 for travel on January 24, 2010 (and also my return trip back to Minneapolis) since my daughter will be there for 6 months). I won't know what specific day we are traveling until about 2 weeks ahead of time, and I saw that the fares are much lower if you buy at least 21 days ahead of time as opposed to a walk-up fare, 7 day advance or 14 day advance purchase. I studiously read the fine print on the Greyhound website before purchasing, which stated that you can take a later bus than the time listed on the ticket as long as you pay a $15 exchange fee per ticket. Just in case, I placed an email (the day before I purchased the tickets) to their customer support team. She (Linda H.) told me that was the case, that I could take a later bus with a $15 per ticket charge. But….now when I emailed them them this week (the very same lady who told me I could leave after the departure date on the tickets with only a $15 per ticket penalty) now tells me that the tickets MUST be used by January 24, because they are e-tickets (they are saying these cannot be changed) but will call tickets can. I tried to get them to change the tickets to will call, but they refuse to do so. I was told in an email "we apologize for the inconvenience". An inconvenience? $250 worth of tickets that I can't use based on a technicality, when a representative from Greyhound specifically told me in an email that this was fine to do? After going back and forth with many emails, going nowhere, they are now telling me to call customer service. Any ideas on how this can be resolved satisfactorily and how I should persuade customer service that this is just wrong???

Get Prepaid Legal and let our lawyers fight for you. They don't mess around with companies like Greyhound. $26 per month (no contracts, momth to month) will put a lawyer on retainer for any legal need.

I, ahem..someone I know...:) is a driver for greyhound. MOST of the time, the driver will go ahead and honor wrong-date tickets, so long as you have a pretty good reason.

Sounds to me like a pretty good reason, I...I mean my friend, would honor these tickets and let you ride.

The only SAD PART is that the e-tickets can be "faked" so easily that if the date is wrong Greyhound doesn't want to honor the wrong-date e-tickets PERIOD! But, SOON, hopefully they'll be getting handheld scanners to verify the validity of these tickets.

Greyhound staff let someone steal my luggage and enter another bus

I was out at the platform area at the Vancouver Pacific Central bus terminal waiting for the bus. I realized I did not have my cellphone in my pocket.I asked a lady beside me to watch my luggage whileI ran back inside to find my cellphone. I was only gone a minute when a man came running towards me as I was leaving the building to tell me a native kid had grabbed my luggage and was on another bus! I told this to another bus driver on duty who just stood there completely stunned! Nobody tried to radio the bus or do anything to retrive my luggage. From here I had to find security . There were two men on duty both standing inside chattting and keeping warm. Both of them barely spoke english. I had absolutely no help from them and when I asked what was being done to find my luggage the security personnel responded by saying"what what ! there is only two of us so what do you want me to do about it! I kept asking someone to take down my information and asked if i needed to fill out any paper work and everyone just stood there staring at me blankly and walked away. I still have not been compensated for my stolen luggage and nobody will return my calls. All I every get to speak with in an automated machine. I have never dealt with such incompetence in my life!

I would have to agree with Tasha on this one. First, did you ask the lady who was supposed to be watching your luggage what the "kid" looked like?

What about the person who told you the "kid" stole it? It seems you were talking with the personnel at the station but not the eye witnesses.

They would have been able to provide much more information than you. I think, in hindsight, you should have tried to get their information and then you could have possibly filed a police report.

Sexual Harrassment by Greyhound driver

My former wife was forced to take a Greyhound bus in Alburquerque to El Paso, TX. on 27 December 2009 at 6:00 pm. It turned to be one of the most horrible experiences she ever had. The previous bus was completely full and the company had to call for another bus and driver, but it looks like the rest of the passengers left before departure and my former wife was the only one to ride with the driver. This man, which he is a Mexican origin, residing in Los Angeles and about 60 years old, responds to the name of Juan, and he spent the whole trip harrassing her with his sexual comments and indecent propositions. My ex was scared to death and she tried to remain calm and awake, she was terrified by the though of falling asleep and wake up with this freaking coward on top of her trying to rape her, or being left in the middle of the road or killed. She mentioned the driver was so direct, disrespectful and pushy that she couldn't find more words to say NO to this motherf...., who had to be thinking that everyone riding in this bus has to be low life, poor or with no rights to be treated with respect. He can consider himself lucky that I was out of the state at that moment, othewise his days of manhood would be over. She's planning to submit a formal complaint with the possibility to sue the company.

Grey Hound terrible !

I just took a Greyhound bus trip being the first and last. .The trip was approx. 14 hours long . While the outside temperature was minus -30c,and that is extremley cold. There was NO HEAT on the bus for the whole 14 hr trip. The bus was blowing cold air from the vents. The trip cost more than a plane fare $130.00 I complained to the head office and they were not fazed and offered a measly small credit voucher for another bus.. Terrible ,terrible. Greyhound is terrible and should be investigated by consumer groups. They are fast to take your money and slow to return any of it.

Greyhound could learn from Mexican bus lines

I recently traveled from Green Bay,Wisconsin to Mcallen,Texas on Greyhound buses and will say never again. Leaving the Milwaukee station the bus had break problems and arrived in Chicago too late to make my next connection and had to had for six hours. The bus drivers seemed to keep their own schedule and made up the time by shortening the break stops. From Chicago I arrived in Memphis, I was supposed to have an hour but the bus arrived late so I got there just in time to get yelled at by the new driver for not being at the gate when he announced boarding. The same driver later made a woman cry when she asked how many stops before her stop. I have never met such foul people as the Greyhound drivers. I arrived in Mcallen in the middle of the night, eight hours later than planned and had no way of getting around in the middle of the night. The next morning I continued my trip to Tampico, Mexico on the Futura bus line. What a difference from Greyhound. In Reynosa, Mexico the ticket agent realizing I didn't speak Spanish well walked me out to the proper gate. The bus had the most comfortable reclining seats with leg rests, a video screen that played movies, two bathrooms with sinks and it ran perfectly on time. The trip back to Texas was on a different Mexican line, Oriente, and was just as good. Back in Texas I flew back to Green Bay, I wasn't going to put up with Greyhound again. I can't think of any other business that could operate so poorly and treat it's customers so poorly and remain in business.

To all Greyhound Costumers,

I called Greyhound to report credit card fraud and they were not helpful at all.

They were rude, would not disclose the name of the person traveling with the ticket which was purchased with my credit card and would not cancel the transaction.

I called my bank (Chase), cancelled my card, and filed a police report. I will pursue this and will make sure i get an article in a major newspaper. They (Greyhound) knew who was traveling with the ticket they could have stopped this criminal from continuing to commit financial crimes and they simply did not. Their (Greyhound) best interest is to make money and not to protect their loyal customers and crack down on crime. Making money is all they care about. Dallas police report number #8106y. So if you are thinking about using your credit card to purchase a Greyhound ticket, I would think twice.

Greyhound allows sexual abuse to 5 year old child and trys to force parental abandonment

I was traveling with my family ( husband and 5 year old child) today from Michigan (8-15-09) when i came to chicago. In chicago i asked to make sure ( as i was promised would not be a issue when i purchased the tickets) that i would be able to sit by my 5 year old child. However 4 different greyhound employees told me no i would not be able to accompany my 5 year old child along the 6 hour trip by his side at 1 am in the morning to st louis. They had no compassion or understanding of my need to be with my 5 year old and to be beside him on to take care of him on this trip. They quoted saying its first come first serve for the seats. That they would not be able to provide my child who is 5 a seat next to me or my husband. They said i would have to sit him by a stranger... Please keep in mind this bus travel 6 hours without any light whatsoever except one short stop. My child would have been sitted by a stranger where i would not have had any visibility or been able to observe him. had i not become hysterical and finally after 20 minutes almost of me crying and screaming saying i will not put my 5 year old child on the bus with a stranger in the dark night without even bus lights for 6 hours and I also begged for management which never came they finally made us a seat together. However this seat was right behind a man watching ***. I had been under the impression that greyhound was a family site.... but they tried to separate me from my baby and tried to force me to neglect his safety and allowed us to be exposed ***... he is five years old..... and when i complained about it all they said was go get a complaint form. When i tried they said they were out of complaint forms. Please alert other families who are concerned about there children's well being, that they very well may be separated completely from there young children, and there children and themselves can very easily be exposed to ***, by alerting people to my experiences, so they can protect themselves, and there children from such traumatic happenings, by making this public. You may use my name and any other info you need.

Greyhound did not allow sexual abuse to a 5-year old child; at no point was he *forced* to watch *** (I'm assuming that is p0rn). Yes your experience was traumatic and wrong, but crying wolf because of it does nothing to generate sympathy for you.

Claiming sexual abuse because a man watched p0rn near your child is laughable, and almost predictable on a bus. You get what you pay for.

To "Vicke", I am incredibly sorry to hear that and you will have my deepest prayers.

Bad experience with Greyhound Driver!

I took the Greyhound from TX to Colorado and believe me I was shocked to say the least of the bus driver I got. We stopped in Amarillo, TX and I forgot something on the seat. All the passengers were off the bus but the bus driver was still on the bus. I explained to him I needed to pick up something I left on my seat. When I walked down the isle to get off again, he grabbed me and kissed me. He asked other questions etc. I did nothing to encourage him whatsoever. I should have reported him but I was so tired and upset, I did nothing. I refuse to ride Greyhound ever again.
