The Greyhound bus drivers in general conduct themselves in absolutely buffoonish behavior. Whenever they hear people speak, even when it's clearly not bothering the other passengers, they have to assert their force and scream at the passengers who are speaking. On...View full review
Greyhound in Toronto, Ontario - No Credit or Refund for Ticket
I bought a return ticket from Toronto to Philadelphia. This week I was shocked to here that my best friend was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer. She is to undergo tumour removal and begin chemotherapy in the next few weeks in attempt to have a chance at fighting the cancer off. Unfortunately she has no family as she was an only child and her mother passed years ago to the same illness. I promised her that I would be there for her and her young son throughout the process and realized that would mean cancelling my trip to Philadelphia. I called in to customer service to have the ticket credited for use at a later date. I was told by a representative the ticket could not be refunded nor credited due to the fact that I had opted to print the ticket at home. I asked to speak to a manager of whom was no help as he explained the same thing as the previous rep. This is completely ridiculous as I will not be on the bus and therefore means I will have completely wasted that money. If printing your ticket at home, which saves greyhound money due to you not having to pick the ticket up from an agent or having it mailed, does not allow customer to credit there tickets, then why have that option! I am completely disgusted with this policy and it needs to be adressed immediately so that no one else has to go through the feeling of being robbed. I literally feel like I was deceived, and like they have no remorse in keeping money for a service I will not be provided. There was no alert that popped up to notify me that the ticket was not transferable under any circumstance before purchasing the ticket (yes I should have read the fine print but who does). I trusted that a reputable company like Greyhound would find a way around this issue and be able to help me or at least be more clear in warning customers before purchasing the ticket that when printing the ticket yourself that it cannot be credited. I will no longer be using Greyhound services and for fellow customers beware of making it easier for greyhound and opting to print your tickets at home. As far as I am concerned this is theft! When money is taken for a service not given, that is theft!!
Greyhound in Palm Springs, California - HORRIBLE!!!!
I bought a ticket for my boyfriend yesterday. I had to go to a store to pay cash because the ticket would be in his name. In order to use my credit card, they were going to charge me an $18 fee. (The ticket was only $38.) The process to pay cash didn't work at all like it was supposed to and took forever to complete. When I called CS for help, the rude Rep. was just one of many in their collection. I dropped my boyfriend at the stop this morning. The stop is not an actual building with people & is in the middle of nowhere. About 1/2 after the bus was supposed to show up, he calls to tell me it hasn't. I called and was told the bus was cancelled. Now, not only is my boyfriend stranded in the middle of nowhere, not only will he not make his mandatory court appointment today, not only was the CS Rep completely unhelpful, but it will take this AWFUL company 6-8 weeks to refund my money!!!!! When I made the reservation, I provided my email and cell phone number. No one bothered to contact me to say the bus was cancelled. When I asked to speak to a Supervisor, I was told there was not one available. I said I would wait, and the Rep got mad at me and said I couldn't wait for one. I have traveled all over the world on Public Transportaion and have to say, hands down, including multiple 3rd world countries in my evaluation, THIS IS THE WORST TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND WORST COMPANY ALL THE WAY AROUND ON THE PLANET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!!

Poor customer service
Greyhound repeatedly overbooks their buses
I don't take Greyhound, but my girlfriend has tried it several times. I drove her to the Greyhound terminal each time (1 to 2 hours before the departure time on her ticket), and every single time we ended up waiting there for many more hours, because the buses that arrived were repeatedly full. Each bus, arriving about an hour apart, had 1 or 2 spots available, while 20-30 customers were waiting in line (a couple of them told us they had been waiting since the day before -- they finally got on a bus before my girlfriend). Once my girlfriend had to travel to another city, a couple of hours out of the way, and make a connection from there in order to get to her destination that day. Another time when she was finally able to get on a bus, a woman who was also waiting there begged my girlfriend to give her spot to her student son. The woman and her son looked completely distressed, while my girlfriend ended up feeling guilty because she couldn't do that (when it should have been Greyhound that felt guilty). All of these people, my girlfriend, the woman's son, and dozens more customers waiting there had tickets for specific buses at specific times. Yet each time, Greyhound obviously oversold the tickets for their buses, without any regard to their customers. Greyhound knew these people would be waiting, but they didn't even give their customers any advance notice so they (the waiting customers) could go do other things like eat, browse a bookstore, etc. instead of waiting at the terminal not knowing when they will get on a bus. So why does Greyhound put a specific bus (departure time) on the tickets if you're not guaranteed to be on that bus? Well, we learned the reason for that too when my girlfriend tried to change her ticket to another day. Greyhound wouldn't allow this and she had to pay for a whole new ticket. Now I would understand this if her spot on the original bus was guaranteed. But Greyhound treats these tickets as if they are city bus tickets when it comes to themselves and don't reserve your spot, yet they treat the exact same tickets as if they are for reserved seats when a customer wants to change them. Greyhound have their cake and eat it too. They can't/shouldn't have it both ways. Either guarantee the seats (in airline fashion) and charge for any changes, or don't guarantee them and don't charge for changes. I will pursue this further with consumer rights associations to see if what Greyhound is doing is even legal in the first place. If you're Greyhound that's reading this, how do you justify this policy? Why was she charged again if her original ticket isn't for a guaranteed spot in the first place? Greyhound is a greedy company that oversells tickets to their buses, period. They rely on their monopoly and treat customers in ways that a customer should never be treated. What they don't realize though is that people have alternative options. Rent a car, take a plane, beg your parents/friends to drive you to your destination, but don't take Greyhound if you want to keep your sanity (my girlfriend uses the first two options now). How do they get away with this?!
5/15/2013 between Atmore, AL and Mobile, AL bus GLI 1565 caught fire and the driver extinguished it then the fire department came and put water on the fire. We were standing outside in the dark for about an hour before we could get back on the bus. Once we were able to...View full review
Greyhound bus. Most Incompetent Company in World
I've tried now for in excess of a week to get tickets for my son from a Job Corp location to my city less than 200 miles away. At every turn, every person I talked to, on the Internet, on the phone, you will never find a more incompetent or inept company in the world. Their discounts - like paying cash though a 7-11 conveninece store - must be engineered to drive you away and just buy an airline ticket. The deeper into the bowels of this company you get, the worse it is. If you can posibly find an alternative to Greyhound, save yourself a ton of time and use it. Like hitch hiking.
My wife was going to Stockton Ca. from Riverside Ca.! The bus was supossed to pick the people from the Riverside Ca. station @8PM.! There were 11 to 12 people @ the station. It so happened the bus never got there just like all the other "HORROR STORIES" I have read!Some...View full review

Greyhound in Manhattan, New York - Why so nasty!!! i care about my kids
i purchased a online bus ticket from Detroit to atl. To make it more easier for my self i brung no bags just a snack bag for me and my one year old son. It was plenty of room on the bus it was just dirty and on organized all the way down the ale it was one person to a seat. Except for the front and the way back i didn't want my son by no sticky bathroom for 18hrs so i choose to sit in the front. The bus driver told me no which i understand no kids in the front. I feel as if he could have asked if anyone wants to sit in the front instead of me and my son sitting in the back smelling this foul smell. On top of it all the back seats was falling off i had to hold my son because someone ripped the seat belts off so metal was poking my one year old. Im pissed and i took pictures aswell. .
Greyhound in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania - Delayed bus, made to wait outside
My son was supposed to leave on a bus from Norristown Pa to State College PA at 5:05 pm. Finally at 6:15 the station "manager" told them the bus had broken down and they would have to wait for another. Then this "manager" proceeded to kick everyone out because it was time for him to close! They waited outside until 7:10 when the new bus showed up. My son was supposed to connect on another bus in Harrisburg PA on the way to State College. He was assured this bus would wait for them. It did not and my son was stuck in Harrisburg overnight. This is not the first time we have had problems with Greyhound. Worst part is they really, really don't care. Probably the worst, most apathetic company I've ever dealt with.
