Horrible experience using Greyhound buses

Jan 2018 Terrible experience with Greyhound!!!! Had a ticket from Phila to Washington DC that was to leave @ 9:40 AM to arrive in DC slightly after 1 PM. Timing was critical because I was going to see an exhibit in DC that closed at 5PM. We were told that the bus was delayed 1 1/2 hrs which would totally ruin the amount of time I had to see this exhibit. I asked for a refund, which they gave to me and ended up taking Amtrak which got me to DC at the same original arrival time. I kept my return bus ticket. Just more horrible! Return was to leave at 5:55PM but we were told it was delayed till 6: 11, not too bad, I can see a 15 minute delay due to traffic in DC. However we were left on the platform and the bus arrived an hour late. We then could not board for another 45 mins. So the 5: 55 bus did not leave till 7:40 PM. We were just standing on the platform, no explanations, no updates of status. A few thoughts: a company run this poorly should not be in business. The savings taking Greyhound rather than Amtrak are not worth it unless you absolutely cannot afford the difference. Lastly, I think that Greyhound has the attitude that its customers are poor and have no other option, so they deserve to be treated like crap.

The worst experience that one can ever have!!!

It was so horrible I wouldn't refer my dog to get transferred from state to state by grayhound. Leaving Minnesota on Tuesday November the 11th 2014 our bus driver wiper blades went out on top of having a white out, we seat at a gas station waiting for help for God knows how long. So I finally make it to chicago bus terminal to only find out I missed my bus now I must wait 5 hours for the next....*** would be a understatement. The icing on my cake was the bus driver from Chicago to Detroit she was a rude unprofessional driver, I watch her talk to innocent passengers as if they were nothing, telling people to keep their conversation to a minimum, telling people that had headphones on their music was too loud coming out the headphones...I thought the express was straight through with maybe one stop, try 4 stops smh and the food stop was for her she said " I'm hungry I need something to eat" when did the ride become about her??? Fyi I'm still trying to get in touch with their corporate office to report her, never again will I ride the Greyhound over my dead body!!!!

Worst bus company in the US - horrible service on all levels

As background: I have never written one bad review/complaint about a product or service before. I have also take several modes of ground transportation in the US (including Megabus and Boltbus). My complaints about Greyhound are multi-layered, and I am only writing this to ensure that others don't have to endure such horrible experiences with this company. My complaints include: 1. The Greyhound stations are awful - they are often crowded, dirty and not well-maintained or organized. I've been to several different stations. The service is always horrific, and the majority of the staff I've interacted with have been very nasty. I wish I could say I was generalizing. 2. I was on my way to Philadelphia to Baltimore once with Greyhound, and arrived at the station 30 minutes early. Eight others were waiting for the same bus as I - we were all waiting in line at the area that said "Baltimore/DC." 15 minutes after our bus was supposed to depart, and no sign of a bus, we asked a rep what was going on. Apparently, a bus that had a "North Carolina" sign on it and that left at a different line was the bus we were supposed to get on. If that wasn't bad enough, the customer service was incompetent, rude and unhelpful. I've never met such deliberately nasty and incompetent people before (I'm not sure how they hire people). The only staff that was "less nasty" were the clean up staff, I believe they were. On top of that, after the supervisors blamed (all eight of us) for missing our bus, they refused to help those who wanted a refund for our tickets. This is not even an exaggeration. Four of us were young females who were very passive and nice, until they basically ignored us. 3. The worst phone customer service I've experienced thus far. Besides the fact that their customer service phone number didn't work, when I called corporate thereafter, I had to wait on the for 40 minutes altogether - and even so, they hung up on me. Again, I am not one to file complaints, but I've never experienced such horrendous service, and it made me very sad to see a company come to such shambles in every way possible.

Delayed bus, made to wait outside

My son was supposed to leave on a bus from Norristown Pa to State College PA at 5:05 pm. Finally at 6:15 the station "manager" told them the bus had broken down and they would have to wait for another. Then this "manager" proceeded to kick everyone out because it was time for him to close! They waited outside until 7:10 when the new bus showed up. My son was supposed to connect on another bus in Harrisburg PA on the way to State College. He was assured this bus would wait for them. It did not and my son was stuck in Harrisburg overnight. This is not the first time we have had problems with Greyhound. Worst part is they really, really don't care. Probably the worst, most apathetic company I've ever dealt with.

BAD SERVICE FROM GREYHOUND BUS AT FLIBERT ST.

On Jan 31, 2013, I arrived at the Filbert St. bus station at 2:00 PM so that I would not be late, waiting for the 4:00 PM bus to Mt.Pocono. About 4:05 I asked an employee where was the bus. I was told that the bus left. The bus driver nor the bus station made any announcement that the bus had arrived or was leaving. I was told that bus driver was late and did that he didn't want anyone to know that he had arrived late. I had to return home which takes me two buses from where I lived to get to Filbert street. Thanks for the bad service.

GREYHOUND SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN

I recently booked a ticket for my cousins to get to my house from NYC. They bus was supposed to leave at 10pm. When the bus didn't show up at 10pm, the workers told them there were no drivers and that the driver would come in 45 minutes. 45 minutes later, no driver, just a buses at the station. They waited until about 1pm. Instead of getting to their destination, they had to book a hotel to stay over night. After reading some comments, I'm seeing a pattern that they tell their workers to say another bus is coming in "45 MINUTES." I'm waiting on my refund and if they do not refund my money, I will call my Credit card to dispute. For those of you who do not know, there is a thing called "chargebacks" and you can dispute these things with your credit card company. They can actually get your money back from Greyhound. It's basically there to protect consumers from bad businesses like this!!! NEVER AGAIN WILL I USE GREYHOUND!!!

Shame on you, Greyhound Bus Lines!

I had a horrible experience with Greyhound this Saturday which I would like to share here.. It was absolutely outrageous. I had a reserved ticket which I purchased online about a week+ in advance. I showed up to the terminal early as indicated, and to my dismay, they did not let me on the bus because they claimed it was full. However, I know that there were at least 20 seats on the bus which they were saving for another stop the bus was making. To make matters even worse, the Greyhound staff at the station was extremely rude about the whole thing, I was told that "this was not their problem because they didn't sell me the ticket", and the employee who who was taking the ticket at the gate actually threatened to call the police because I got upset and told him that I will get on the bus anyway because there were seats there and I needed to get to my destination in time. Even the manager was very rude. I was told I can take the next bus which was in at least an hour, but since I had to catch another connecting bus in Port Authority, that was not a good option for me. Besides, why should I have to do that if I had a valid ticket for that particular bus? I ended up taking a bus from a different company instead, which was a block away from the Greyhound station, but this resulted in me losing many hours and causing a lot of aggravation. The way Greyhound seems to be operating these days is extremely disorganized, the staff is extremely rude, the customers are treated like cattle, and even when one has a ticket and gets there early, it's questionable whether you will get on the bus or not. Considering that there are other options for customers, this is no way to run a business. I wrote to Greyhound corporate office right after this happened describing the incident, and today received a response: a canned email telling me to contact customer service for refund. Obviously I do not ever plan to use Greyhound after this experience and I will tell everyone I know about what happened. In fact, I plan on contacting Better Business Bureau and even the media. I still cannot even believe what happened, it was literally like being in some Third world country trying to get on a bus. The Greyhound corporate office needs to take a good hard look at the way they are operating, because people will not be using Greyhound much longer if this type of thing continues, as there are other options which are run much better and are in fact cheaper. BTW, I was not the only one who ended up not being able to get on that bus with a ticket, there were several other people who were in the same situation. It was truly unbelievable, and everyone needs to know about this lest they end up in the same situation.

I had the same problem with Greyhound. They overbook and then make you wait an hour for another bus.

In my case the bus they finally sent broke down 15 minutes outside NYC and we had a additional wait on the side of the road. The toilet was not working and they would not let anyone off the bus.

They really do not care if they ruin your day and they are not that cheap. Maybe the Chinese bus would be better.

Greyhound lines is a bad company to drive for. they steal your money and the managers treat you like a slave.

They all were german ***

Do not go to work for greyhound lines. They will own your life and you will stay in dormatories and dump motels with bed bugs and roaches.

I never thought about it that way before. i guess that makes sense, if Greyhound treats its passengers like that than they probably treat their drivers that way too.

When I used to take real long trips and sleep in my seat I used to joke around saying that I was staying at "The Greyhound Motel" A few time, the trip was so incredibly uncomfortable that I had to get off and go find a cheap motel to stay at. They didn't have roaches in them, but they were what some people refer to as "Roach Motels". Pretty bad, and they did have bed bugs.

I feel sorry for people who drive for Greyhound, as they are having to ride the bus every day, every day. And I can imagine that they get tired of having to deal with all of the people on the bus who cause problems.

We can be sure the CEO of Greyhound doesn't ride cross country in a bus. Gone are the days when their buses never moved with a dent or a torn filthy seat.

It seemed like the last one I was on was held together with duct tape.

Also gone are the days when people took pride in their behavior and their appearance. The slovenly and unwashed treat their surroundings like themselves.

It was like riding in an asylum in a dumpster.

I guess I'd be cranky too if I'd been abused for years by this kind of fare. I'm just thankful I got there safe, even if I did have to bring my own plastic seat cover.

Greyhound

Don't ride the Lucky Streak to Atlantic City. Apparently they don't care when you get there (our bus was late) or if you get there (we weren't allowed on the bus because supposedly there were not enough seats) then they lie to you and tell you another bus is coming in five to ten minutes (in reality 35 minutes) customer service reps are useless they all look like they'd rather be having root canal then be at work, bus driver got mad at one lady than started yelling at everyone on bus, air conditioning on buses doesn't always work (last bus we were on was so hot I thought the driver had mistakenly turned on the heat) altogether it is an unpleasant experience.
